This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information in accordance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA, SBC 2003, c. 63) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
By using our website at wizardwashing.ca or engaging our services, you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this Policy.
1. What Personal Information We Collect
We collect only the personal information reasonably necessary to provide our services and respond to your inquiries. This includes:
- Contact information: Name, email address, and phone number (provided via our quote request form)

- Payment information: Where online payment is offered, payment details are processed by a third-party payment processor. We do not store credit card numbers on our systems.
- Communications: Records of emails, calls, or messages exchanged with us
- Website usage data: We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymous information about how visitors use our website, including pages visited, time spent on the site, general geographic location (city/region level), device type, and traffic source. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. Standard server logs may also collect IP addresses and browser information.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18.
2. Why We Collect Your Personal Information
We collect personal information for the following purposes:
- To respond to quote requests and inquiries
- To schedule and deliver requested services
- To process payments
- To send you service-related communications (appointment confirmations, invoices)
- To send you commercial electronic messages (marketing emails and promotions), with your consent in accordance with CASL (see Section 5)
- To improve our website and services
- To comply with legal obligations
3. Legal Basis for Collection (PIPA)
Under BC's PIPA, we collect, use, and disclose personal information only with your consent, or as otherwise permitted or required by law. When you submit a quote request on our website, you consent to:
- Being contacted by Wizard Washing to follow up on your request
- Receiving service-related communications
Consent to receive marketing emails is collected separately and you may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 5).
4. How We Use and Disclose Your Information
We use your personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We may share your information with the following trusted third parties, solely to fulfil the purposes described in Section 2:
- Formspree (formspree.io): Our website quote form is processed through Formspree, which receives and transmits your form submission to us by email. Formspree's privacy policy is available at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
- Payment processors: Where online payments are accepted, your payment information is handled by a PCI-compliant third-party processor. We do not receive or store raw card data.
- Email service providers: We may use a third-party platform to send follow-up and marketing emails. These providers are contractually required to protect your information.
We may also disclose personal information when required by law, court order, or regulatory authority.
5. Commercial Electronic Messages and CASL
Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) governs the sending of commercial electronic messages (CEMs) — including marketing emails and promotional communications — to electronic addresses.
When you submit a quote request, we obtain your implied consent under CASL to send you follow-up messages related to your inquiry for a period of up to 2 years from the date of your last interaction with us, or until you withdraw consent.
If you opt in to our marketing list, we obtain your express consent to send you promotional emails, seasonal offers, and service updates.
You may unsubscribe at any time by:
- Clicking the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email we send
- Emailing us at jake@wizardwashing.ca with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line
We will process all unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect our ability to send you transactional messages related to services you have engaged us for.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Generally:
- Quote inquiries that do not result in a booking: up to 12 months
- Customer records for completed services: up to 7 years (in line with CRA requirements for business records)
- Marketing consent records: for the duration of the consent period plus a reasonable time thereafter
When personal information is no longer required, we securely destroy or anonymize it.
7. Security Safeguards
We implement reasonable physical, administrative, and technological safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, or destruction. These include:
- Secure HTTPS transmission on our website
- Restricted access to personal information on a need-to-know basis
- Use of reputable, security-conscious third-party service providers
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights Under PIPA
Under BC's Personal Information Protection Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal information
- Withdraw consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information (subject to legal and contractual restrictions)
- Request the deletion of your personal information where it is no longer necessary for the purposes collected
To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Privacy Officer at the address below. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request. In some cases, we may need to verify your identity before processing a request.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC (OIPC).
